Meet Rajan Vaidya, PharmD, a visionary leader in pharmacy, currently serving as the CEO of HealthShifts. With a distinguished background, Rajan previously held the role of Vice President, Practice & Professional Development at the California Pharmacists Association (CPhA) and Executive Resident in Association Management & Leadership at the American Pharmacists Association Foundation (APhA Foundation).
Rajan’s journey in pharmacy, began as a pharmacy technician in the health system setting, where he focused on sterile compounding and special projects. His journey continued as part of the inaugural class at the Keck Graduate Institute School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, where he earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree along with a certificate in Healthcare Management – Health Systems.
Driven by his passion for advocacy and policy, Rajan actively contributes to the field through roles such as Executive Director of the CPhA Foundation, President of the Indian Pharmacists Association of California, and board member for the Alliance for Patient Medication Safety (APMS), a prominent patient safety organization.
As CEO of HealthShifts, Rajan continues to champion innovation and empowerment within the pharmacy profession, harnessing his extensive experience, network, and leadership to redefine healthcare delivery and enhance patient outcomes.
Susan Bonilla, CEO of the California Pharmacists Association, brings her years of experience in policy and advocacy to lead the largest state pharmacist association serving pharmacy professionals across all practice settings.
CPhA is a membership and volunteer driven association that serves member needs as the profession of pharmacy faces unprecedented challenges and change. She leads a team in Sacramento that advocates at the state level for policy advancement for pharmacists as they pursue their professional goals and seek improved outcomes in the lives of their patients.
Prior to her leadership role at CPhA, Susan served in local government and was then elected to the California State Assembly where she completed three terms in office. She served as Chair of the Business and Professions committee when SB 493 was passed, designating pharmacists as health care providers in the State of California. CPhA continues to be at the forefront of leading positive change for health care delivery and system improvements as part of the solution for a healthier future.
Michael D. Hogue is the Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA).
Hogue has more than 25 years of experience in community practice as both a pharmacy owner and a staff pharmacist, as well as an ambulatory care provider in family and preventive medicine. Prior to becoming CEO of APhA in 2023, Hogue was the Dean of Pharmacy at Loma Linda University with faculty appointments in both the schools of pharmacy and medicine. In addition, he was the Director of Interprofessional Education and Practice and was responsible for launching a comprehensive pharmacotherapy clinic in collaboration with Loma Linda University Health’s Faculty Medical Group practice.
His work in collaboration with state pharmacy associations over many years has resulted in all 50 states authorizing pharmacists to administer vaccines. Hogue was the first pharmacist appointed by CDC to serve on its COVID-19 vaccine workgroup in April 2020, and he served as APhA’s liaison representative to ACIP from 2020 through 2023. He also served on the Adult RSV Vaccine Workgroup for ACIP.
He is married to pharmacist Heather Hogue, PharmD, a faculty member in physician assistant studies at California Baptist University. Michael and Heather are parents to two adult daughters who are both in the health care industry.
