HealthShifts Launches Federal Pharmacist Support Initiative in Response to HHS Layoffs 

Partnerships with American Pharmacists Association (APhA), California Pharmacists Association (CPhA), and Career CRISPR aim to provide critical employment and transition resources to impacted federal pharmacists  

Sacramento, CA — Friday, April 4, 2025 

In response to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) decision to reduce its workforce by 25%, HealthShifts is launching the Federal Pharmacist Support initiative. This new effort provides direct support to federal pharmacists affected by the layoffs and underscores HealthShifts’ mission to uplift and empower the pharmacy profession.

As part of the initiative, HealthShifts will offer: 

• Free job board postings  for employers seeking to hire displaced federal pharmacists 

• Preferred access to the HealthShifts platform for affected pharmacists, including PRN (as-needed) shift work in California and permanent opportunities nationwide 

• A dedicated job tag—Federal Pharmacist Support—to help pharmacists quickly identify welcoming opportunities 

• Career development guidance through a collaboration with Career CRISPR, supporting transitions into new roles across the pharmacy profession
